Name: Takuto Tsunashi, the Galactic Pretty Boy
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Fandom: Star Driver: Takuto of the Radiance (anime)
Timeline: Post-series, right after the last episode.
History: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Driver:_Kagayaki_no_Takuto

Character Personality:
Takuto is, as a rule, a very bright and cheery boy. He is almost always upbeat, to the point that his friends comment on him having a certain “radiance.” He believes strongly in the power of good, and that every person has an element of good inside them. Even in situations that other people would find trying, Takuto remains optimistic and encourages those around him to be the same. He believes that when what he wants to do and what he ought to do are the same thing, he can “hear the voice of the world”—a phrase he uses to mean that he feels he is doing something truly good. It is moments like these when Takuto’s “radiance” truly shines.

Takuto was raised to protect the powerless—a duty which he takes very seriously. He has trained to dual wield swords, and has found himself in many situations where he has to use his skills to protect his friends. He sees every battle as a challenge he will win, and almost instinctively comes up with new moves or attacks if he starts losing. He’s also rather loud in a battle. Takuto is accustomed to shouting out the names of his attacks as he uses them, replying in kind to his enemy’s taunts, and voicing his ideals. It is actions like these, combined with his usual smile, that make him stand out like a super hero among his friends.

Although Takuto is very popular—especially with the girls because of his “pretty boy” looks—he is very innocent when it comes to women. He still blushes when a girl makes advances towards him, or bats her lashes in his general direction. This is an effect of his boyish, pure-hearted nature. However, Takuto is still a teenage boy, intent on living a fabulous school life. He still desires a girlfriend or a kiss, and wouldn’t hold back from getting either… if only he knew exactly how to get the one he wanted. Despite his inexperience, he has a surprisingly mature outlook on romantic relations. He enjoys casual dates and doesn’t feel jealousy.

Takuto makes friends quickly, with either gender. In fact, he usually finds both a female and a male best friend, perhaps because he feels most comfortable as part of a trio. He is very loyal and protective of his close friends, and always wants what he believes is best for them. He will easily put his life on the line to keep his closest friends happy. If he feels betrayed by one of his close friends, he demands an explanation. The resolution of the conflict can make that friendship stronger, but only if the explanation was plausible or the actions were for some greater good.

There are very few times that Takuto gets upset or his cheeriness wavers. He can get into something of a slump if any of his friends are in trouble and he can’t find a way to help them. Because he usually sees solutions to problems easily (if not instantly), he can be moody if a solution isn’t immediately obvious. Sometimes it takes a word of advice to renew his optimism.

Takuto also has complicated feelings about family. His mother was a teenager when she had him, so she left him with his father’s father right after he was born. He has never met her, but he cherishes the idea of her and doesn’t blame her for leaving him. He loves his grandfather who raised him, and will quote the man’s teachings even in the midst of a battle. However, Takuto absolutely hates his father, not only for abandoning his mother, but also for leading the secret organization that kept trying to kill him and kidnap the girl he liked. Just mentioning his father makes him almost violently angry, and feeling full of hate and rage is something he really dislikes. He tries to avoid this by cutting off his feelings entirely, so whenever the conversation turns to fathers—or his father—his tone becomes distant and he has very little to say.

Character Abilities:
When he was 15, Takuto was given the Tau mark—an X-shaped mark on his chest that glows when he “apprivoises.” For Takuto, apprivoising means transforming into the Galactic Pretty Boy (by gaining a new outfit and a blond streak in his hair) and summoning a giant mecha named Tauburn. Once inside Tauburn, he can summon two glowing star swords and use a variety of beam and missile attacks, including one where Takuto himself becomes the missile. However, when not in his Galactic Pretty Boy form, Takuto can still duel wield swords—and is very good at it. He incorporates unusually graceful moves into his attack routines, and never falls for the same trick twice. He learns very quickly, and easily uses new moves alongside his old ones. He’s very athletic and has surprising stamina.

Takuto also has one magical power known as a First Phase, which he’s been able to use since he received the Tau mark. His First Phase is the ability to draw people to him and make them want to befriend or at least smile with him. The power doesn’t affect people suddenly, but instead works subtly. Most people just think he has a powerful natural charisma, because his First Phase is constantly in effect. He is naturally charismatic, but the effect of the First Phase makes even his enemies want to befriend him and see him succeed.

In either his normal or his Galactic Pretty Boy form, he’s known for being pretty. Although not exactly an “ability,” Takuto’s looks get him noticed and sometimes fawned over. Once, he even defeated an enemy because she was too busy ogling him.

Character Weaknesses: Takuto’s most obvious weakness is his (lack of a) relationship with his father. His temper flares at any mention of the man, and he becomes very distant as a way to try to avoid becoming too angry. If this goes on too long, Takuto’s tension becomes too much and he snaps. The outburst usually ends just as suddenly as it occurs, but the guilt of letting his temper get the best of him lingers for a while.

Takuto also sometimes suffers from occasional feelings of inadequacy. It seems to be a common occurrence for the girl he likes to have feelings for someone else—his best friends, in particular. And because Takuto wants to keep his friends happy (and doesn’t really know how to ask anyone out), he will do nothing and accept the status quo. But because he’s usually such an active go-getter, this passive inactivity leaves him moody and depressed. Takuto doesn’t share much about himself, so unless he’s pressed, he won’t speak about whatever it is that upsets him… which only leaves him feeling more distant and more depressed.

Although he never shows it, Takuto can get lonely easily, and has never entirely been able to suppress his fear of abandonment—a result of growing up without either parent, well aware that he had been a serious mistake for them both. (This is especially worse because his father makes it very clear that he wishes to “correct” the mistake.) He tries to pretend he’s not worried about his friends leaving him, or just leaving him out.

Takuto also believes there is good in everyone (except his father). He can be blind to a person’s bad or malevolent qualities. Even if he does recognize an evil plot or a person’s hateful feelings, he often ignores it because he prefers to a straightforward confrontation. Sometimes, this can get him in a deeper bind than if he had nipped the problem in the bud.

In a battle, Takuto is weakest when he wields only one sword. Because he was trained to wield two swords, he can easily be defeated when he only has one.

[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]

What are the abilities that your character will retain in Soul Campaign?

Takuto will retain his pretty boy looks and ability to make friends quickly, his ability to dual wield, as well as his usual athleticism and stamina. He will also retain his natural charisma, though it perhaps won’t be as perfect and brilliant as a First Phase power. Nothing will happen if he tries to summon Tauburn.

What are the weaknesses that your character will lose or gain in Soul Campaign?

Unless his father joins Soul Campaign, Takuto will be less affected by his daddy issues. He will still remain mostly useless in combat unless he wields two weapons at once.

However, because a large part of Takuto’s life is based on his friends, he will likely feel lonely and much like an outcast until he finds a few secure friends who he can really get along with and trust. (He’s most comfortable in a trio.) Also because he has a complicated family situation, he will probably feel lonely if he sees happy families—a situation that will only be worse until he finds some close friends.

Finally, Takuto will be sad and perhaps even a little crushed at the sudden loss of Tauburn. Some of his confidence comes from the knowledge and pride at being Tauburn’s Star Driver, and to abruptly lose one of his sources of power is unnerving. Also, Takuto has a deep emotional attachment to Tauburn, so losing the mecha is also something like losing one of his friends (and yet another reason to feel lonely).

[ MEISTER ONLY SECTION ]

Why your character should be a Meister:

Takuto is more suited to being a Meister because he’s used to making his own decisions and charge into situations without hesitation. He never backs down from a challenge, and because he believes very strongly in his ideals, it would be difficult for him to follow directions if he were a weapon. Takuto also makes friends easily, and has the ability to lead in a very unassuming way.

Meister Ability:

Soul Dazzle, because Takuto is rather flambuoyant, especially when entering a battle. He actually shouts “Dazzling the stage!” during a very flashy transformation sequence before every battle. He is also immediately popular at his school, but he’s comfortable (and maybe even a little pleased) when he is the center of everyone’s attention. Also, his good looks draw a lot of attention.

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]

Soul Description: Happy, Confident, Loyal, Fun, Determined, Brave

Soul Appearance: Takuto’s soul is a dark red, just like the color of his hair or eyes. It has a spiky top, much like his hair, except for a bright yellow star on the forehead. DAZZLING SOUL!!!
